Ontario Liberal Shenanigans at the PC Leadership Convention

I post this with some hesitation. I have said threats will never silence me, but I would be lying if I said they don’t stick in the back of your mind, especially when you do something that you know will ruffle the feathers of the folks who threatened you.

But what the folks at the Ontario Liberal Party, or more appropriately the political staff at Queen’s Park have done this weekend requires comment.

This video below will cover two press releases I received from two Liberal staffers that were being distributed to all media. They can hardly say they didn’t want it covered, but they may not like my angle.

Reflections on the PC Leadership Convention Social

I have to say, I was taken aback by the lack of candidate swag PC members were wearing at the party’s social tonight. Virtually no one was wearing candidate branded t-shirts, buttons, stickers or anything else that easily identifies who they are supporting.

Unity was in the air.

Even with round about questions I wasn’t able to detect any unity issues, and it appears that the party membership, regardless of who they are supporting are prepared and excited about the prospect of lining up behind whomever has won, when that person is announced tomorrow evening.

The party was upbeat, the conversations were friendly and I witnessed Elliott, Hillier and Hudak working the room (I did not see Frank Klees, but it was a pretty packed crowd.) Other party figures like John Tory, Bob Runciman, Norm Sterling, Bob Bailey, John Yakabuski, Laurie Scott, Steve Gilchrist and others were also present and engaging in conversation with attendees.

It was interesting to see folks who follow me on twitter or read my blog come up to me to say hello and give me their feedback. We’ve got some interviews with attendees that Jeff is currently doing his masterful editing and production of and they will be up shortly.

We’ll have lots to share tomorrow I hope.

If you’re at the convention and want to talk about the goings on in person drop me a note at john.laforet@laforet.ca
