The Tale of the TTC Chair and the Lost Metro Pass

Metro passes according to the TTC website are issues under the authority of Adam Giambrone, Councillor Ward 18 and Chair of the Toronto Transit Commission. It is generally understood that losing a metro pass is a really bad idea because they can only be purchased at the beginning of the month and cannot be replaced… or can they?

Well, if you’re a City Councillor and you receive your metro pass for free to begin with, it appears a $25 fee can get you a replacement one. Councillor Adam Giambrone – Chair of the TTC appears to have lost his July metro pass and utilized his office budget to replace his pass this way. Take a look. The TTC  even has a special form for City Councillor’s who lose their free metro passes.

I know when I lost mine in September I couldn’t replace mine and had to use tokens until October 1st. That being said, I’m not opposed to having some kind of replacement program if one loses their pass, but I just think it should apply to more than just Councillors and that a Councillor who loses their pass should pay for it at the very least out of their own pocket and not their office budget.
