I can't think of anywhere in Ontario that is a 'better' place to put these destructive, ineffective industrial scale wind towers. They just don't belong anywhere. Period.

Unbelievable!
We have been fighting for the survival of our homes and community for almost a year now from being destroyed by industrialization of our beautiful valley by SkyPower and "friends" in the two levels of Government. Your blog should go a long way in "educating" folks who have been "scammed" and lied to by various "green groups' that really only have one motive in mind here and that is making money off a really bad idea!

Thank you to everyone for the comments below. Getting the word out is critical. We must do so. I appreciate that Wind Concerns Ontario and Save the Bluffs have linked to two of my entires in the last two days.

I wanted to point out that since 11am when I reported wind was producing 94 megawatts, it has fallen every hour to 25 megawatts as of 7pm according to The Independent Electricity Operator.

The $400 Million dollar project that was supplying that one megawatt, appears to have gotten shy with the attention and is now operating at 0% capacity and has not produced anything for the last eight hours.

Of 25 megawatts currently being supplied to the grid Port Burwell is responsible for 12 megawatts of that power. See for yourself. http://reports.ieso.ca/public/GenOutputCapability/PUB_GenOutputCapability_20090122.xml

Excellent comments and research! It takes more than simple slogans and good intentions to understand what's needed to make wind power a success. As a Guildwood resident, the more questions I ask about this proposed wind power project off the Bluffs, the less I like the idea. It sure doesn't help when the various "experts" who we rely on keep giving us limited data, seem to want to restrict discussion, or lack answers to legitimate questions raised by community members.

If the Green Energy Act comes into being, there still will be arguments that can be made to protect our environment.

Thanks John—man you've done your homework. More people need to be aware of and read your writings. This blog is so jam-packed with research and info, I'm gonna have to read it several more times!

This fight may become a bit of a media battle, so Bluffs-defenders should make their views known on discussion boards, as below this Star article, for example:

It doesn't matter how good the wind is. No test tower has ever gone up in Ontario where the developer takes it down and says "oops, not enough wind".

Why? Because this isn't about efficiency. This isn't about providing the people of Ontario with power.

This is about huge, guaranteed subsidies for the wind companies from the public trough...a gullible public who supports it....and politicians cloaking themselves in green at any cost.

Wait until Smitherman brings in the Green Energy Act....you or your community will have NO say whatsoever.
