A Note to Guildwood Residents – Car Break Ins
I received an email this morning from a Guildwood resident regarding a number of car break ins she became aware of after her car was broken into last night. She spoke with other area residents who were dropping their children off at school this morning and asked me to share this with my readers. It appears there has been a number of incidents in the last couple of weeks. Folks in the Poplar Road to Morningside area should be most vigilant as that appears to be the area of focus.
Remember to lock your car doors, remove anything that appears to have any value by either bringing it inside or placing it in the car trunk and park your car so it is visible from windows or in the garage. This link is to a piece CNN did on April 15th 2009 with tips on preventing car break ins.
If you’re car is broken into, be sure to contact the 43 Division of the Toronto Police Service to ensure the incident is reported. It helps ensure members of the local police division are aware of what’s happening and will allow them to assist the community in effective monitoring. Some of the previous incidents were not reported and while nothing or items with little value may be missing, the crime itself is worth reporting. Contact information can be found on the Toronto Police Services’s 43 Divison website.
Guildwood is an incredibly safe community and residents are fortunate to have the safety that comes with a living in a smaller community while still being able to enjoy the benefits of city living. Because of that, it is important we all do what we can to ensure our community stays a safe place for our families.
